Commercial locksmiths in Northland
Secure your business and your assets with a full range of commercial lock and key solutions - from a single shopfront to a keyed system across a whole site.
From high-security locks, restricted key systems and master keying through to digital options and access control, our technicians have the experience to secure your premises and give the right people the right access.
A property manager, a small business owner, a project manager, a school principal, a real estate agent, a car dealership - we have a commercial service to fit, and we take punctuality and professionalism seriously because on a commercial job they are most of the value.
Urgency is a common theme in commercial work. A door that will not lock at closing time, or a shop that cannot open in the morning, is not an inconvenience - it is money.
The staff turnover problem
Most commercial security failures are not break-ins. They are keys that were never handed back.
Every departing staff member, contractor, cleaner and casual is a key you are trusting to have been returned. Over a few years that becomes a number nobody in the building can actually state. Two things fix it properly:
- Restricted keys cannot be copied at a hardware store or a kiosk. Duplicates are only cut on your authority, so the number of keys in existence is a fact you own rather than a guess.
- Access control replaces the key with a card, fob or code that can simply be switched off the day somebody leaves - with no locks touched and nothing to collect.
Master keying: the right people, the right doors
A master key system lets one key open everything while each staff member's key opens only what they need. The manager carries one key rather than fourteen; the cleaner gets into the offices but not the safe room; the contractor gets the plant room and nothing else.
It is worth designing before it is installed. We will sit down with your floor plan and work out the hierarchy properly - which is considerably cheaper than discovering the design was wrong after the cylinders are in the doors.
Compliance and getting out
Locks on a commercial building are not only about keeping people out. Exit doors have to let people leave, immediately and without a key, and a door that has been "made more secure" with the wrong hardware can quietly become a serious problem in a fire. We fit hardware that keeps the building secure without compromising escape, and if something already on your building worries us we will say so.
Door closers matter here too: a fire door that does not close and latch properly is not a fire door. Doors that close automatically on a fire alarm, and final exits and fire separations that form part of a building's means of escape, can all be specified systems on the building's compliance schedule, which the owner is responsible for having inspected and maintained.

Questions
Common questions
Can you work outside our trading hours?
Usually, yes, and for retail it is often the sensible way to do it. Tell us what hours suit and we will work to them where we can.
A staff member has left and not returned their key. What now?
Rekeying the affected doors is the immediate fix. If it keeps happening - and in most businesses it does - a restricted key system or access control is the answer, because both make the problem structural rather than recurring.
How many keys can a master key system handle?
Anything from a two-door office to a site with dozens of doors and several levels of access. The important part is designing the hierarchy before anything is installed, so the system can grow with the business rather than being rebuilt.
Do you do work for property managers?
Regularly. Tenancy changes, lost keys, lock repairs and keyed-alike systems across a portfolio are bread-and-butter work for us, and we are used to invoicing and reporting the way property managers need.
Can you secure a site or a yard rather than a building?
Yes - gates, containers, sheds, plant and roller doors. Padlocks are not all equal, and the right one for an exposed Northland site is not the one on special at the hardware store.
Locked out, or want it sorted properly?
One call reaches a mobile locksmith in Northland who will tell you what it costs before any work starts.
