- Make, model and year. Key systems change across a model run.
- New Zealand-new or a used import? Imports frequently use different keys and different programming from the local-market car of the same name.
- Do you have a working key? A spare cut from an existing key is a very different job from a lost-all-keys replacement.
- Photo ID and proof of ownership. Required before any locksmith cuts a car key - and the reason nobody else can have one cut to your car.
If your car has one key and one key only, book a spare. It is the cheapest job on this page by a wide margin, and it turns the worst day of your motoring year into a mild inconvenience.

Very possibly. This is the list we are asked for most, not the limit of what we can do. Ring 0800 243 503 with the make, model and year and we will give you a straight answer - including telling you if it is a job for the dealer rather than us.
Do you come to the vehicle?
Always. We are entirely mobile and the cutting and programming equipment is in the van, so there is no tow and no dealership booking.
Can you make a key with no working key at all?
For most makes on this list, yes. It is a larger job than duplicating an existing key, so it costs more and takes longer, but it is generally done at the vehicle.
What does a replacement car key cost?
It genuinely depends on the make, the model, the year and whether a working key still exists - the spread across those is wide enough that any figure quoted before we know them would be a guess. Ring with those four details and you will get a real price.
