Hyundai key replacement in Northland
Lost your Hyundai keys, or want a spare before you do? We cut and program Hyundai keys on site, anywhere in Northland.
Getz, i30, Tucson and Santa Fe. Hyundai shares much of its key technology with Kia, and both moved early to flip keys and then to smart keys with push-button start.
What we see on Hyundai keys
i30s, Tucsons and Santa Fes, plus a lot of older Getzes still going. Hyundai moved to folding keys and then to smart keys, so the same model name can take three quite different things depending on the year.
Models we are asked for most: i20, i30, Tucson, Santa Fe, Kona, Getz and iLoad. If yours is not among them, ring anyway - the list is what comes up often, not a limit.
Worth knowing: Have the year to hand when you ring, and if you can, photograph the key you already have. Between them those two things usually settle exactly what we need to bring.
What we can do with a Hyundai
- Replace a worn remote, or the case around a working key.
- Program a transponder or proximity key so it will actually start the car, not just turn in the barrel.
- Rekey the ignition or door locks where a key has been lost and you would rather it stopped working.
The cheapest time to sort this out is before it happens. Cutting a second Hyundai key while a working one still exists is a routine job. Making one from nothing, after the last key has gone, is a different piece of work with a different price - and it is entirely avoidable.
There is no shop to drive the Hyundai to, which is fortunate given you cannot open it. Have the model, the year, whether it is an import and whether a working key still exists ready when you ring - the four things we always ask - along with photo ID and proof the vehicle is yours.
Other makes we cut and program
Our automotive locksmith page explains the whole car key service in one place. Before the last Hyundai key goes, have a look at cutting a spare, which costs a fraction of starting from nothing.

Questions
Hyundai keys - your questions
Can you make a Hyundai key if I have lost all of them?
In most cases yes, and at the vehicle rather than at a dealership. It is a bigger job than duplicating from an existing key, so it costs more - but it very rarely means a tow. Ring with the model and year and we will tell you honestly what is involved for your Hyundai.
Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealer?
Usually, and more convenient, because there is no tow and no booking a week out. There are a few models where a dealer genuinely is the right answer - and we will tell you that on the phone rather than after driving out to you.
